
Dr. Steven K. Tarkan
A native of New York, Dr. Tarkan began his career after receiving his medical degree and graduating with honors, Alpha Omega Alpha, from Albert Einstein College in 1972. Afterwards, he completed his 1 year Internship in Internal Medicine at the Bellevue Hospital and New York University and then a 1 year Surgical Residency at Beth-Israel Hospital. He then went back to Bellevue Hospital where he completed his 3 year Residency in Otolaryngology.
Dr. Tarkan is Board certified in Otolaryngology and holds professional memberships with the following associations:
- American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery-Diplomat
- American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology
- Skin Cancer Foundation-Fellow
- Deafness Research Society-Member
- Greater Miami Ear Nose & Throat , Head & Neck Surgical Society-Past President
Dr. Tarkan holds hospital privileges at the following:
- Baptist Hospital
- South Miami Hospital
- The University of Miami Hospital
Dr. Tarkan served as a physician for the South Florida Boxing Commission, the Ear Nose and Throat consultant for the MISS USA Pageants and a Doctor for the Doral-Eastern Professional Golf Tournament and Elizabeth-Arden L.P. G.A. For the past 18 years he has been a physician for the Miami Heat NBA Team. He also served as an ENT Physician in the past for the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Marlins. Dr. Tarkan is presently a Medical Expert for the Agency for Health Care Administration. He has also been a nominee for the B'nai B'rith Outstanding Citizens award. Dr. Tarkan was a President of the Greater Miami Ear, Nose & Throat Head and Neck Surgical Society.
